I struggled with this class quite a bit. I enjoyed the information but had some struggles when it came to using google for finding some of the answers. I would find several web pages that said the same thing so I would use that common answer and end up getting it wrong on the exams.
I think overall this course was structured a lot different than any other course I’ve had which was difficult to get used to but once I figured it out I was able to understand most of the material. I appreciated the worksheets as well as the study guides for exams and found that the labs were fairly easy to guide myself through which I appreciated since I’ve had a few online science courses that had labs that were more difficult to do outside of the classroom.
This course was really Interesting and covered a pretty wide range which was cool. I did struggle with this course a little but I think it’s because it was online and I tend to do better with in person classes.
I really struggled in the beginning of this course. The vocabulary was hard for me to follow. Learning about things I can not see takes me longer. I was grateful for finding the Amoeba Sisters youtube videos their fun fast paced graphics helped me visualize that which can’t be seen with eyes alone. I really appreciated the fast email responses from Professor Green. I felt like the annoying student that had questions every Sunday. But she was kind and helpful throughout the course. These last 4 chapters are right up my nature loving interests. As a prior woodland fire fighter-CA Conservation Corps Member and a person who’s family lost everything in the Slater fire in the Siskiyou National Forest, these chapters provide information on what humans are doing wrong as well as providing hope for the future if we learn to do things right. The class discussion were meaningful throughout the course and honestly my favorite part, these were the only times I was confident that I could earn the possible points. The time limits on the lab quiz’s give me anxiety and I failed to read questions thoroughly which led to me making many mistakes. I ran out of time for all the lecture quiz’s due to the same issues mention previously. But Im not finished yet, see you in Bio103 in the spring.
This class was really difficult for me. The lessons were hard to follow but I also have a problem with sitting still very long. The worksheets were perfect for me to help me understand a lot of the things in the chapters. I would say do not skip a worksheet or not fill it out because they seriously help. I t became a puzzle for me and I was able to stay caught up because of them and the discussion boards were really fun to do. My favorite ones were on the research of a plant or an animal.
I really enjoyed the breakdown of each chapter every week. I do wish that the labs were different but all in all it ran nicely. I liked the quizes through out the lectures so I could see if I was really comprehending what you said through out. It was nice because if I didn’t understand I just went back through and listened again.
The first lecture/chapter was very interesting to me, and I am excited to learn more about biology as the term proceeds. I too agree with Audriah that the lecture seemed a bit slow, but overall, it contained the information I needed for the quizzes.
I feel like this class was was a little difficult for me, your lecture vs the book was a little different. I enjoyed your lectures but I feel like they just went a little slow. The little quizzes in the lectures helped a lot but some of the questions in the tests and quizzes didn’t match the book sometimes therefore got me confused. Overall I enjoyed the class and wish to understand it all more in the future.
